Shopping

Most supermarkets offer an online shopping service and charge a small delivery fee. It can be helpful when buying heavy or bulky items. Some supermarkets offer a telephone ordering service and deliver straight from the store. Ask your local branch what they provide.

There are lots of homecare providers that can help you and do your shopping for you. There is usually a charge for this.

Meals 

You may need help with preparing food and making meals. There are services that can  prepare meals and deliver it direct to you. 

Cleaning

There are cleaning services that can help with 

  • Kitchen and bathroom cleaning
  • Polishing, dusting, vacuuming, mopping
  • Ironing
  • Bed linen changes
  • Laundry
  • Internal window cleaning
  • Watering plants 

Pet care

There are pet care services that can support you with looking after your pet. They can also offer support with taking care of your pet if you need to go into hospital.

Carers

If you look after a friend or relative who could not manage without your support, you are a carer. You may be able to get extra support with caring for someone

Carers of people with dementia

Choosing a service

Be mindful when choosing a service. Think about services where staff have been DBS checked. Also think about writing down exactly what you want from service and agree a price before starting.
