Quays Culture present Lightwaves, the annual 10-day light festival animating and illuminating Salford Quays and featuring the most ambitious line-up to date.

No tickets are required, and this year Quays Culture will launch a free mobile app to help visitors navigate their way around the 12 outdoor locations.

The programme includes

Floating Earth, a 10 metre globe floating in the canal.  

Cygnus, a mesmerising water ballet featuring 12 perfectly synchronised, glowing robot swans.

Sirens, an installation that uses holographic projections to transform the canal into a mythical underwater world inhabited by mermaids

Mystery Birds, singing caged birds released with spectacular effect.
