Join Walk the Plank at the Irwell Weekender this June bank holiday! We will be celebrating the summer by getting outdoors for a fun-packed weekend of activities, games and performances that celebrate nature and ask what we can do to take better care of our planet.

Saturday 4 June: ‘Day Out at Drinkies’

Drinkwater Park
Rainsough Brow, Prestwich, M25 9XW

Join us for a fun-filled ‘Day Out at Drinkies!’ Experience different performances, activities and sensory delights at Drinkwater Park, home to woodland, meadows and lots of interesting plants and animals.

Cycling enthusiasts are invited to meet us in the car park at 11.45 am to join the cycling parade. Set off on an adventure at 12.30 pm by creating your own trail through Drinkwater Park, inspired by the local flora and fauna. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the interesting plants and animals that live in Drinkwater Park!

Sunday 5 June: ‘Day at the Races'

Kersal Wetlands
Off Littleton Road, Kersal, Salford, M7 2FX

Let’s get outside for a fun-filled sports day to celebrate the Commonwealth Games! We will be kicking off the summer at Kersal Wetland’s nature reserve and ancient racecourse track. Take part in fun races and get stuck into animal and vegetable themed activities.

You’ll be joined by Walk the Plank’s whimsical inventions, including The Climate Change Mythbuster and the Collector’s Magpie Puppet. Coalesce Dance will also be performing their family-friendly show ‘Old Green Time Machine’.


Start the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend with Buile Hill Mansion Association and a regally Royal tea party in the afternoon and a beacon lighting celebratory moment in the evening. More details here.
