Woodland Wellbeing SEN Session- Take Action Together

Our woodland project aims to deliver wellbeing for parents and their SEN children. An
immersive enrichment day where self care is at the heart of what we do. For the
children they will be lead by our forest school trained practitioners, reconnecting their
wild souls back to nature. We value a play based child led approach and will
encourage children to explore their surroundings, take responsible risks and celebrate
nature. We will start our days with a morning fire a place to gather and talk about our
ideas of how we want the day to flow. Followed by a nature based activity, for example,
wood carving or nature print making. There will also always have an sensory
exploration area which will be full of things to explore, touch and smell, if any of the
children feel overwhelmed. If they need time and space to res,. there will be hammocks
and swings designed and encouraged for all to take some time to feel at ease, and
listen to the sounds of nature.

During the same session but at a different location on site, we will support the parents
and caregivers with an art therapy session and a guided breath work meditation.

Our programme will be open to neurodiverse children and their parents in Salford. We defineneurodiversity as people with neurological differences such as autism, adhd, dyslexia and other mental health conditions. The children do not need to have a formal diagnosis as we realise this is a long slow process in Salford. As long as the parent can make a clear case forwhy themselves and their neurodiverse child would benefit from our programme, they will be considered.
