Independent Parental Special Educational Advice line
Are you a parent of a child with special needs? Do you have problems with their education? IPSEA's trained volunteers give free, legally based independent advice and support on: problems with schools; requesting statutory assessment; proposed statements; annual reviews; possible disability discrimination; exclusion from school, etc.
Our five most frequent requests for advice are: Home/School transport, proposed Statements, failure to provide support at school, exclusion (especially informal exclusion) and lack of Local Authority funding for SEN.
Our helpline is staffed by just one or two volunteers so they are very busy. If the line is engaged, please just keep trying.
You can also use our email form where we can give you detailed information about an issue but we cannot advise you on the specific problem.
