Weight Management with The Health Improvement Service
Reaching and maintaining a healthy weight is important for overall health and can help you prevent and control many diseases and conditions. If you are overweight or obese, you are at higher risk of developing serious health problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. That is why maintaining a healthy weight is so important. It helps you lower your risk for developing these problems, helps you feel good about yourself, and gives you more energy to enjoy life.
Our Weigh Ahead course focusses on helping you to make small but sustainable changes to the way you eat. The course runs weekly over five modules, and you can join at any time to begin your five-week block as the topics roll over and begin again every five weeks.
Once you join, you will need to attend the next five-week block of sessions to receive all the content and gain the most benefit from the course.
Topics covered during the five-week delivery include:
- Food families
- Portion sizes
- Food labelling
- Fats and sugars
- Healthy recipes
A free starter pack (similar to the example described) is given to you at week two including items such as food measuring spoons to help with portion control, a tape measure to keep on track of your waist circumference, alongside various British Heart Foundation information brochures, and a Red, Amber, Green food label guide to help you select healthier choices whilst shopping.
At week five, you will also receive a free BBC Good Food recipe cookbook, and a fitness tracker to help you on your weight loss journey.
Places are limited – please book for a pre-course assessment by using the following link. This will book a 20-minute telephone consultation with one of our advisors so we can provide you with an overview of what to expect, and importantly collate some baseline measurements and information from you that is needed prior to enrolling you on to any course.
