Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay in Salford - Sunday 17 July

The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay is currently travelling across the Commonwealth, in an epic journey that sees the Queen’s Baton visit all 72 nations and territories. This summer, the Queen’s Baton Relay will return to the host nation for a tour of each region of England.

The final leg of the Queen’s Baton Relay will give communities across England the chance to experience the buzz and excitement for Birmingham 2022, as the 11 days of showstopping sport get even closer.

The England route began in London on 2 June, coinciding with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. The Baton later returns to England on 4 July for a 25-day tour of the country.

Salford, in England, will welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay on Sunday 17 July 2022 and is one of hundreds of communities across the country that will receive a visit from the Queen’s Baton Relay. It will culminate in the host city of Birmingham, where it will take a central role in the Opening Ceremony on 28 July 2022.

From sports days to community festivals, members of the public are encouraged to get involved with the celebrations and embrace the arrival of the Baton.

The Birmingham 2022 website will continue to be updated with information on the Queen’s Baton Relay route, including details of events and where to line the route.

Thousands of Batonbearers, each with inspiring backgrounds and stories, will have the honour of carrying the Baton during the journey through England, including those nominated in recognition of their contributions to their local community.
