Children's Neurodiversity Nursing Service

The service provides behaviour management advice and support for parents of children diagnosed with a Learning Disability and/or Autism. This is a specialist service and thus universal services should be accessed initially. Typically the service provides advice as follows:

  • sleep management
  • management of physical aggression and self injury
  • uncooperative behaviours
  • sensory related behaviours
  • Risk management

Support will be provided via telephone, video and clinic appointments. High risk cases will be supported via home visits.

A baseline behaviour assessment and if required more detailed functional assessments will be provided and a Positive Behaviour Support Plan identified in collaboration with the family. Parental health and wellbeing will be an integral part of the support provided.

Age Range(s)

  • ages 5-18 years
