Salford's specialist Stop Smoking Service is part of the council's health improvement service.
The team has been supporting people in Salford to quit or reduce smoking for over 16 years and have a very high success rate.
All the support you need
If you’ve struggled to quit smoking, you’re not alone – it isn’t easy and can take some people up to 30 attempts to succeed.
There is loads of help available to support you and so many reasons to keep on trying to quit.
Smoking damages the lungs and weakens the immune system, making it harder to fight infections. That means if you get COVID-19 or flu you’re more at risk of complications.
From the moment you quit smoking the body starts to heal itself which will help the body’s ability to fight off illnesses. Just 72 hours without smoking means your breathing will get easier and you’re on your way to reducing your risk of a heart attack or cancer.
So now is a good time to stop smoking and quit for good. Whilst our regular face to face support sessions are currently not running due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the team is still here and on hand to support you all the way.
We can provide one to one support available online or via telephone as well free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) including, patches, gum, mouth spray and nasal spray. We will work with you to develop a tailored one to one support and to help you quit. To speak to one of the team please call on 0800 952 1000 (option 2) or email health.improvement@salford.gov.uk
