How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?

 Learners will be assessed before coming on the programme to see what extra support is needed and can be put in place. If the learner has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) we will provide the support that is needed for the EHCP.

How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?

 As stated above each and every learner will be assessed to find out the level of support that is needed. The support will be given by various members of staff.

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?

There are specialised staff that deliver each curriculum area. Throughout the learner journey the learner will be assessed to see what support is needed and this will be provided.

How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?

Each and every learner will be assessed and be given a learning plan appropriate to the needs of the learner. Whatever support is needed this will be put in place.

What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?

Parents are invited in to discuss their Childs progress. Tutors are always available any time to have discussions with parents to let them know how they are getting on. Also what plans that they have for the learner. Events are held through the learner journey which parents are more than welcome to attend. 

What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college?

 We now have a learner support mentor who will give that wrap around support. They will check on attendance behavior and will give 1:1 sessions when support is needed. 

What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had? Are any being trained currently?

 Each tutor are specialised  in their own  vocational areas including maths and English specialist's. They will gain qualifications in their vocational area that they choose to pursue.

How will the setting/school/college prepare and support my child/young person to join the setting/school/college or the next stage of education and life?

 Work experience is in place within the programme for the learner to gain the  real life experience. There is also progression into  an apprenticeships or employment.

How are the setting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?

 The learner can attend the centre to look around with or without parents to make sure that it is the correct setting for them. They will get the chance to meet all staff who will be part of their journey. They will have a discussion with the Learner recruitment and progression co-ordinator to discuss support and what will take place throughout the setting.

How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will receive?

 This is done through an interview process at the beginning of programme. Discussions will take place as to what support is needed and what the needs of the learner are.

How are parents involved in the setting/school/college? How can I be involved?

 Discussion will take place with all relevant staff who will be involved with the learners education alongside the learner recruitment and progression co-ordinator to make sure first and foremost the programme is suitable for the learner.
