Worsley Village Heritage Trail

Looking around Worsley village today, with its picturesque green, half-timbered houses and tranquil canalside setting, it is difficult to imagine that this was once the birthplace of the 'transport' revolution in the 18th century. But the building of the Bridgewater Canal in 1761 linked coal mines in Worsley with Manchester city centre and halved the price of coal overnight. This fuelled the industrial revolution that changed the face of British history forever.

Find out more about Worsley's heritage by taking a one-mile self-guided walk around the village with the Worsley Village Heritage Trail visit website for trail details.
