Salford Family Nurse Partnership
Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is a free and voluntary program for first-time mums (and dads), offered 5 days a week between the hours of 8-6 dependant on need. A specially trained family nurse visits the young woman regularly, from early pregnancy until the child is two. The Family Nurse Partnership Program aims to enable young mums to:
- Have a healthy pregnancy
- Improve their child’s health and development
- Plan their own futures and achieve aspirations The Family Nurse Partnership Program is underpinned by internationally recognised robust evidence, which shows it can improve health, social and educational outcomes in the short, medium and long term, while also providing cost benefits.
What does FNP involve?
The FNP program is delivered by specially trained nurses. They use carefully designed materials, activities and evidence-based approaches within home-visits.
The Family Nusre Partnership is offered from early pregnancy, through infancy and can continue uncill the child becomes 2 years. We work colaberatively with Midwifery services and replace the Heath Visitor.
Visits are offered either at home or in the community setting to suit the needs of the client.
Non-English speaking clients are offered interpreter service for the duration of the programme as required. Family nurses only speak English.
